John Hope papers, 1929-1936.

The collection consists of papers of John Hope, as President of Atlanta University, from 1929-1936. Includes correspondence, reports, minutes, memoranda, printed material, and photographs. Much of the material documents the Agreement of Affiliation (April 1, 1929) between Atlanta University, Morehouse, and Spelman Colleges to form the Atlanta University Center and the appointment of John Hope as President. Additional records relate to Hope's Six-Year Program designed to eliminate duplication of curricula and strengthen each institution.
